LAELIA LOBATA large blooming size plant 8 to 10 bulbs

Laelia lobata is a species originally from Brazil. We imported a few plants back in the 70’s when it was legal, flasked them and now have some to offer. This is probably extinct now in the wild as it originally grew very close to Rio. It is an appendix 1 on the endangered list which means it is almost impossible to move from country to country. We won’t even try.

 

Flower reminds one of Laelia purpurata, yet side by side they are distinctly different. Also this plant has a very distinctive look with long yellowish pseudobulbs. Plant being offered is blooming size and at least 8 mature pseudobulbs.  They are fairly heavy as reflected in the postage, however we refund any excess postage over actual cost

 

Unfortunately, during the past hurricanes some of our rare alba forms got mixed in so you may get a white one. If you flower it and it is white we will pay for shipping it back or don’t even tell us and keep it. We find them very easy to grow and flower, but as I was doing research to list this plant, some of the books say they are finicky. 3 hurricanes, a flood, 2moves, a few freezing nights, has not stopped these tough boys from thriving. To save on shipping we will remove it from clay pot it is growing in and place it in a plastic pot. It still is a fairly heavy plant.  .  We also have various other sizes and pricing.
